Transportation activity particularly major highways across the region were relatively flat in 2007 compared to the previous year. Narrow fluctuation at toll plazas on the Garden State Parkway and the Atlantic City Expressway indicate a level average vehicle count over the past year. A decline, however, was experienced with casino bus activity which recorded a 10% decline as casinos adjusted their marketing efforts. In addition, while rail ridership had slipped modestly, that situation is expected to reverse as gasoline prices remain high.
